boutell: (Default)
These leaves in orbits circumscribed by pots
Won't flourish any further than the wall
And barely touch the row of cinder blocks
That mark the boundary. They will not fall

Too far from home or leave the property.
She trims them with a pair of giant claws.
I do not think that they will clack for me,
But I could be mistaken. Trace the flaw

And root it out. The vegetative growth
Deprives the flower. Fashion tiny shoes
And wait for gnomes to claim them. Tame the oaf
Or tie him down. These lilliputian blues

Are meant for songbirds, not the hearts of men.
I'll leave you to your precious cyclamen.
